Department of Zoology

About the Department

The Department of Zoology was established in 10-7-1975 with Pre University Course. Allied Zoology Course for I B.Sc., Chemistry was introduced during the year 1978. B.Sc Zoology Course was started in 1984 and M.Sc Zoology course was offered in 2012.The Department was recognized as a centre in 2013. Both Ph.D Full time and Part time programmes are offered since 2013 and about 13 Research Scholars are doing Ph.D. One Minor Research projects was undertaken by Dr.V.Valarmathy. The Department also offers Short term Certficate courses namely "Value added Sea food preparation" conducted by M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation,Nagapattinam and "Basic techniques in Ornamental Fish Culture and Breeding" conducted by TamilNadu Fisheries University,Nagapattinam.
